New Textile Technology Show Launched In Mumbai For The Indian Market

A new exhibition of textile technology, equipment and services has been launched to provide suppliers with a forum in the Indian sub-continent. Aimed at showcasing the latest textile manufacturing solutions, INDTEX 2009 will take place at the Bombay Exhibition Centre – NSE Complex in Mumbai from March 31 to April 2, 2009.

The Indian textiles industry has an overwhelming presence in the economic life of India, especially around Mumbai, the commercial capital of the country and traditional home of the textile industry. It is the second largest provider of employment after agriculture, providing direct employment to over 35 million people. Currently, it contributes 4% to the GDP, and almost 17% to the country's export earnings. It is now accelerating at an annual growth rate of almost 10% and is expected to continue growth at a rate of between 16% and 22% in value terms, reaching the level of US $115B by 2012.

The catalyst for this exponential growth is a buoyant domestic economy, and appropriate support from Government. Indeed, The Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh, has recently called again upon the Indian textile industry to invest and show the aggression and enterprise to develop internationally known brands and labels with global footprint and global ambitions.

With this background, INDTEX has been developed to enable suppliers of textile equipment, products and expertise to present their solutions to this booming market. It is expected that the show will attract exhibitors from India's textile sector as well as international suppliers of textile equipment and services. The show will cover all sectors of the textile manufacturing chain from the raw fibre to apparel production and industrial textile manufacture and use.

The organiser of INDTEX 2009 is Inter Ads-Brooks Exhibitions (India) Pvt.Ltd, a joint venture between Mack Brooks Exhibitions, a world leader in organising international trade exhibitions, and Inter Ads Ltd, based in India. Mack Brooks' well-known events include ATME-I, the American Textile Machinery Exhibition - International, most recently staged in Atlanta, USA.
