The Fiber Society: Fall 2010 Annual Meeting And Technical Conference October 20-22, 2010

Call for Papers
Papers on fundamental research related to the science and engineering of fibers and fibrous materials will be presented during the 2-1/2 day conference. Conference topics related to the following major themes, as well as other aspects on the frontier of fibers and fibrous materials, are anticipated:
- Fiber-reinforced composites
- New materials for outdoor recreation
- Nanotechnology & biotechnology
- Textiles for energy applications
- International aspects of textiles retailing & marketing
- Medical & industrial textiles
- Polymer science & technology
- Fiber science & technology
- Fashion design & aesthetics
Online submissions will be accepted beginning June 15, 2010. Access the Fiber Society website at www.thefibersociety.org and follow the link. Guidelines for ALL submissions are provided online. Strict adherance to format is expected.
Submission deadline is Augsut 15, 2010. Notification of acceptance into the program will be no later than September 1, 2010.
In conjunction with the conference, several one-day or half-day short courses are anticipated. Clemson University's Center for Advanced Engineering Fibers and Films will present its Advanced Fiber Process Development Workshop. The course will provide background on the key elements in a fiber-spinning process and the state-of-the-art in modeling those elements. Additionally, courses in Medical Textiles and in Composites are being developed, offering more directed study in those areas, designed to complement the major conference themes.
Tabletop exhibitors will attend the conference, demonstrating the latest in testing and analytical instruments and software, advanced materials, and materials conversion technologies.
