International Conference's Educational Tracks Feature Everything Textiles

From Color Application to Green Matters to Biomedical Textiles

Research Triangle Park, NC — The 2007 International Conference & Exhibition (IC&E) of the American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists (AATCC) will be held October 2-4 at the Francis Marion Hotel in Charleston, S.C., USA. The conference will feature three educational tracks which mirror the Association's interest groups: Chemical Applications, Concept 2 Consumer® (C2C), and Materials.

Sessions in the Chemical Applications track will include: Herman and Myrtle Goldstein Student Paper Competition, Functional Finishing, Color Application/Processing Control, and Health Safety and Environmental Issues. The C2C track sessions will include: Developing the Future, Consumer Preferences and Safety Testing, Green Matters, and Best Color Practices - Making Sure the Shade is Right. Sessions in the Materials track will include: Engineered Fibers, Fabrics and Chemicals; Protective Textiles; and Medical/Biomedical Textiles. Presentation abstracts are posted on the Association's web site, www.aatcc.org, under IC&E.

In addition to the educational tracks, the conference will include a Poster Session with approximately 15 presenters and tabletop exhibits. Tabletop exhibits will feature CAD/CAM systems and software; color management software, systems, and solutions; auxiliaries, dyes, and chemicals; and testing equipment and services for the apparel and textile wet processing industry. Conference events include a Welcoming Reception, Student Textile Bowl (a game show-style trivia session), and an Awards Luncheon. The Awards Luncheon program will feature the presentation of the Olney Medal for outstanding achievement in textile chemistry, the Harold C. Chapin Award for service to AATCC, the Henry E. Millson Award for Invention, and the J. W. Weaver Award for best paper published in the Association's award-winning magazine AATCC Review. The AATCC Outstanding College Graduate of the Year will be recognized, as well as the winners of the Herman and Myrtle Goldstein Student Paper Competition, the C2C and Materials Design Competitions, and the Textile Bowl.
