Brilens Custom Clothing have announced that their new Direct To Garment printing machine is available for use, meaning that customers and clients can print whatever they desire onto any t-shirt or clothing item. The printer – one of the first to arrive in the United Kingdom – is set to change to way that the custom shirt industry works, making the process efficient for both customers and manufacturers.

Direct to Garment printing, or DTG printing, is a new technology that allows images and designs to be printed onto the material without the need for transfers or appliqué effects. With Brilens now using this device, the DTG technology allows for a new wave of creativity when it comes to clothing designs, with the use of full colour photography and bright block printing to create stunning fashion in under twenty-five seconds. The printer works similarly to a regular inkjet printer in the office, and the inks used are nontoxic and environmentally friendly.

A spokesperson for the company said, "Direct to Garment printing has changed the custom clothing industry in an enormous way. The ability to now print a white base onto dark garments means that a full and vibrant image can now be printed onto any colour garment using full colour digital technology."

DTG technology has been making an enormous impact on the clothing industry – plenty of these shirts have been printed for fun occasions, such as local football club strips, hen parties and birthday celebrations. However, the DTG printing method can also be used for marketing and promotions; many companies today use t-shirts and other apparel to broadcast their brand and message, and with a custom design it can prove to be a very successful marketing technique.
