External rings are coils of one or several turns
External rings are coils of one or several turns. A single turn will have a gap where the ends meet, to eliminate this, several turns can be used and the ends pressed flat to form a "dog leg" at the juncture. Using wire brush material the coils can be welded to form a single unit.
