3M Gripping Material is designed to enable individuals to grab, squeeze, and hold equipment such as racquets, clubs, bars, tools, bats, and tow ropes more securely with an easier release.

The material features thousands of microscopic "fingers", making it possible for people to maintain a consistent grip with minimal effort. The material is based on the manufacturer's proprietary micro-replication technology and consists of a high-friction surface and backing, which can be sewn, adhered or wrapped for specific jobs and activities. The manufacturer states that when used alone on a single surface, it provides a strong, secure grip in both wet and dry environments. When used as a system, the material is said to offer maximized strength without any fastening or adhesion between the surfaces.

The material is available in two models. G100 features a nonwoven backing and is offered in 27-in. × 67-yd (68.6cm × 61.2m) and 27-in. × 134-yd (68.6cm × 122.5m) rolls. It attaches by sewing or liquid adhesive bonding.

Also offered is G200, which includes foam backing with beveled edges and an adhesive strip. It is currently available in 1.1875-in. × 54.7-yd (30mm × 50m) rolls, with 10 rolls per case.
