The Role of AYSA
The charter and bylaws of the Association give it a number of broad technical, economic, promotional, educational, and social purposes. With its clearly defined functional interests, AYSA has a unique opportunity for relevancy that is not possible in broader-based textile associations.
- The end products of the industry are semi-manufactured products sold to other segments of textiles.
- The marketing system for sales yarn is unique and separate from other textile marketing systems.
- Although sharing certain technology with the integrated manufacturers, the sales yarn producer is more of a custom manufacturer, turning out products that are manufactured and packaged for very specific end uses.
- The industry has traditionally consisted of smaller management and ownership units than exists in most other textile manufacturing segments.
AYSA has thus restricted its role to that of dealing with problems and opportunities that are uniquely yarn industry oriented and to delving into the broader problem areas only when it can effectively complement, or supplement, broader-based textile issues.
