Bhupender S. Gupta And Ajit Moghe Win AATCC's J. William Weaver Award For Their Significant Contribution To Textiles Science

Research Triangle Park, NC - Bhupender S. Gupta and Ajit Moghe's report on "Hybrid Nanofiber Structures for Tissue Engineering," published in the October issue of AATCC Review, was selected as the best peer reviewed paper published in the journal in 2009. For their significant contributions to textile science literature, the authors will be honored with the J. William Weaver Award at an Awards Luncheon on May 19, during the Association's 2010 International Conference at the Georgia World Congress Center (GWCC) in Atlanta, Ga., USA.

Bhupender Gupta holds a BS in textile technology from the Technological Institute of Textiles, and a PhD in textile physics from the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology. He is currently a professor at the College of Textiles at North Carolina State University (NCSU). Ajit Moghe holds a BS from Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute (VJTI). He also earned MS and PhD degrees from NCSU. Moghe is currently a research engineer at Covidien in Mansfield, Mass., USA.

In February 1979, the AATCC established an award for the best peer reviewed paper published annually in the Textile Chemist and Colorist (now AATCC Review). In 1990, the award was named for J. William Weaver (1916-1990), who was chair of AATCC's Editorial Board at the time of his death.

AATCC's 2010 International Conference will be co-located with ATME-I MEGATEX 2010, which will run concurrently with Techtextil North America and SPESA Expo as part of the Textile and Sewn Products Industry Week May 18-20 at the Georgia World Congress Center (GWCC) in Atlanta. AATCC's conference theme is "Innovation and Sustainability Bring New Life to Textiles."
