West Point Foundry & Machine Co.l Warper for indigo dyeing processes is capable of producing a 48-in.-dia. (1,219mm) ball and offers speeds up to 400-ypm (360-mpm) via a lightweight, maintenance-free trumpet traverse mechanism.

The machine features vulcanized rubber-covered drive rolls to minimize yarn damage and allow for quieter operation, pneumatic brakes on each drive roll that allow for quick stops to minimize lost ends, and an AC drive with a soft start clutch for adjustable acceleration rates. An AC inverter drive for controlled speed changes is also available.

The machine achieves ball hold down via two rodless pneumatic cylinders, which provide adjustable pressure with a cam mechanism to reduce pressure as the ball diameter and weight increases. In addition, a compact drive is contained within the warper reduces less floor space and ensures operator safety by eliminating exposed pulleys and belts.

A predetermining digital counter automatically stops the machine and turns on a red signal to alert the operator of a mid-beam lease and a totalizing counter stops the warper at when a full ball is completed.
