Conical Needle Hook

Source: Groz-Beckert
The conical hook has a cross-section at the bottom of the hook that has been increased, tapering to a reduction of the cross-section at the hook tip.
Groz-Beckert hook has a cross-section at the bottom of the hook that has been increased, tapering to a reduction of the cross-section at the hook tip. The trapping clearance is unaltered. Depending on the needle type and application, Groz-Beckert hooks demonstrates different conicity varieties of cross-sections. The design is optimized using the computer-aided finite element method. A favourable distribution reduces tensile stress exerted on the bottom of the hook by up to 40% under identiccal degrees of force. The tangible benefits of this technology are fewer bent or broken needles, and a reduced needle requirement.
