Fluitec Chooses The X-Rite RM200QC Pocket-Sized Spectrocolorimeter

Very small things such as microscopic metal flakes and tiny globs of degraded chemicals in lubricants can cause very large things like hydroelectric generators and huge compressors that liquefy air to grind to a halt.

So Fluitec International, a Jersey City, N.J.-based company that focuses on maximizing the life and performance of industrial lubricants, has come up with a way after a decade of research to accurately monitor the condition of oils as they separate the close-tolerance parts in large machines and allow them to keep moving.

The secret: catch a sample of the stuff in oil that can cause machine failure on a piece of filter paper (called a membrane patch), measure its color with precision, and match the data against graphs that show the degree of degradation of the lubricant. When it comes to the color measurement step, Fluitec has chosen the X-Rite RM200QC pocket-sized spectrocolorimeter.
