GenCorp Expands Board to Elect New Director

The Board of Directors of GenCorp Inc. voted to increase the authorized number of Board members from seven to nine and to appoint as a new Director of the Company, Steven G. Rothmeier, Chairman and Chief Executive of Great Northern Capital.

Bob Wolfe, Chairman and CEO of GenCorp stated, "We are very pleased to welcome Mr. Rothmeier to GenCorp's Board and look forward to the contributions he will make to GenCorp. Mr. Rothmeier's experience in financial matters and as a CEO in the aerospace industry will be invaluable, particularly as we pursue growth strategies that are focused in large part within our core aerospace and defense business".

Previously, Mr. Rothmeier served as President and Chief Executive Officer (1985-1989) and Chairman of the Board (1986-1989) of NWA, Inc. and its principal subsidiary, Northwest Airlines, Inc. Mr. Rothmeier engineered the $884 million acquisition of Republic Airlines by Northwest Airlines in 1986, the largest acquisition in airline history at that time. Mr. Rothmeier successfully negotiated the sale of NWA, Inc., the parent of Northwest Airlines, in 1989 for $3.6 billion.

Mr. Rothmeier holds a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration from the University of Notre Dame, and Master Degree in Business Administration from the University of Chicago.
