Since a doffer spends about 80% of the time looking for a package to doff or going back to the starter maker to retrieve cones
Since a doffer spends about 80% of the time looking for a package to doff or going back to the starter maker to retrieve cones; significant efficiency gains can be realized by speeding up the doffer. By changing two (2) gears (which takes approximately fifteen minutes) in the doffer drive while checking scissors and switch settings, speed can be safely increased 26% on all shuttle compatible doffers (all doffers made April 1987 and later) including SE9 and SE10! This system has been successfully implemented at many plants. On several frames, the plant was able to eliminate the shuttle completely; this lowered the supply cost associated with shuttles, starter makers and doffer drive wheels (alignment of the three components to utilize a shuttle). Downtime and fixer time have been reduced as well. However, it should be noted that this system can be utilized with a shuttle/doffer combination while increasing machine efficiency. The amount of machine efficiency depends on several factors: 1.COUNT PRODUCED 2.PACKAGE SIZE 3.LENGTH of MACHINE 4.TAKE UP SPEED BARCO monitoring systems have shown efficiency loss due to doffer wait time between 1.7 to 9.0%…. speeding up the doffer 26% translates into an efficiency gain of .4 to 2.0%. An actual 2% efficiency gain was shown on a machine with: 7 count, 11" package, 192-position machine with a take up speed of 138. Actual efficiency gains are due to the doffer simply removing the packages quicker. This complete system may be ordered (in stock) from V-Tex as a HIGH SPEED DOFFER KIT.
  • Doffer travel TIME to the package is reduced
  • Doffer speed increases by 26%
  • Typical Autocoro efficiency usually increases over 1%.
