Ingeo Fiber Sets Sustainability In The Open
Made entirely from annually renewable resources, Ingeo fiber takes nature back outside at Outdoor Retailer
In a sense, Ingeo fiber is coming home. Outdoor Retailer, the most important sports and activewear event in the U.S., is the perfect venue for a fiber that combines the advantages of a natural product with the performance of a synthetic.
For Ingeo fiber, going outdoors means returning to its roots. "Ingeo", after all, means "ingredients from the earth." Ingeo fiber is the first manmade fiber created from a 100% renewable resource - corn. It is a novel product that combines the best of both worlds: the performance of a synthetic fiber and the advantages of a natural material. Since it is derived entirely from natural, annually renewable sources, Ingeo fiber contributes to reducing our dependence on limited fossil fuel resources such as oil.
Characteristics like strength, resilience, comfort and drape combined with loft, natural insulating warmth, moisture management and easy care and wear properties come together to make Ingeo fiber the perfect solution for both outer and inner fabric performance needs, translating to garments that are both easy care and easy wear.
This combination of natural composition and competitive performance is winning over clothing makers across the globe. They realize that Ingeo fiber provides their products not only with performance and aesthetic appeal, but also with a singular competitive edge: fabric created from annually-renewable resources, resulting in one of the authentic sustainable & performing products in the textile industry.
Many of the companies who rely on Ingeo fiber to provide their products with a competitive edge are present at Outdoor Retailer this year, giving visitors an opportunity to see and feel firsthand what all the fuss is about.
Deer Creek Fabrics (booth #6830) will present a range of both 100% Ingeo fiber fabrics and blends with Lycra that use both spun and filament yarns. Styles include jersey, pique, rib and mesh, and come in a full range of colors. Deer Creek has chosen Ingeo fiber for the key performance characteristics – like moisture management and its quick-dry capabilities – which Ingeo fiber guarantees. Furthermore, the fiber is a particularly appropriate fit for Deer Creek thanks to its eco-friendly characteristics of sustainability and the fact that the fiber can be composted at the end of its natural lifespan.
The success of Ingeo fiber is also being confirmed by the presence of commercial consumer products. At Outdoor Retail, Wickers Performance Wear Inc. (booth #1201) will be presenting Wickers Brand clothing, a line designed to emphasize the company's commitment to sustainable resources. Wickers Performance Wear is offering an expanded line of products in Ingeo fiber made from yarns supplied by Carolina Mills, including a men's brief and t-shirt in Loden and new denim; and a woman's tank, briefs, boyfriend briefs and a t-shirt in brick and new denim. The Wickers Performance Wear collection can also be purchased at www.wickers.com.
In the Unifi (booth #6221), Unimatrix Asia will be presenting a garment package including men's and women's t-shirts made from a blend of 50% Ingeo fiber and 50% organic cotton. These t-shirts sport the Ingeo logo and come in plaited single jersey in a full range of colors.
Thermore Ltd. (booth #6823) will be presenting Thermore Ingeo fiber, the result of collaborative work undertaken by the company together with Ingeo fiber to perfect the ways in which the fiber can be optimized for inner thermal insulation. This new insulating line created with Ingeo fiber is among the outstanding products the company offers through its Natural line, and will be present in three different weights: 80, 115 and 150 grams.
Figli Di Michelangelo Calamai (booth #4093), a leading Italian sportswear company, will be presenting diverse shirt fabrics including single jerseys, rib, interlock and double face. All the fabrics are created from 100% Ingeo fiber or blended with other natural fibers like cotton and viscose.
Pontetorto (booth #4081) will be presenting diverse typologies of pile fabric utilized in the company's sportswear and activewear lines, all created from 100% Ingeo fiber. The spun yarn is supplied by Fil Man Made, and the texturized yarn is supplied by Antex.
