Lyondell Chemical makes management changes

Lyondell Chemical Co. (Houston) has appointed James W. Bayer to the position of senior VP of manufacturing, and Russell T. Crockett Jr. to VP of responsible care and engineering.

Bayer is a 23-year veteran of Lyondell and ARCO Chemical Co., which was acquired by Lyondell in 1998. He has held positions of increasing responsibility in engineering and manufacturing, most recently VP of engineering and health, safety and environmental (now responsible care). In his new position, Bayer will be responsible for the 18 U.S. manufacturing facilities operated by Lyondell and its Equistar Chemicals venture, as well as for process engineering. He also will represent Lyondell on the Operating and Owners committees of LYONDELL-CITGO Refining LP.

Crockett joined Lyondell in 1996 as a treasury consultant, responsible for supporting the company's banking, insurance, and corporate finance activities. He was named business nanager of aromatics in 1997, and hydrocarbons plant manager at Equistar's Channelview manufacturing facility in 1999. In his new role, Crockett will be responsible for health, safety, environmental, and engineering functions for Lyondell and Equistar.
