Mermet's Chroma™ And GreenScreen® Evolve™ Sustainable Shading Fabrics Named Architectural Products Product Innovation Award Winners

Special recognition for “Most Sustainable Product” awarded to Chroma
Cowpens, SC (PRWEB) - Mermet, a leading innovator of high-performance Sun Control Textiles™, today announced its GreenScreen® Evolve™ and Chroma™ shading solutions have been named winners of Architectural Products 2015 Product Innovation Awards (PIAs). GreenScreen Evolve won a PIA in the “Solar Control and Site-Generated Energy” category, while a special recognition for the “Most Sustainable Product” was awarded to Chroma. The award winners were unveiled in conjunction with Greenbuild, one of the building industry’s most highly visible shows, held this year in Washington, D.C.
“We are honored to be presented with these two awards from Architectural Products, which is widely respected across the building products industry,” said Jules Duguay, General Manager with Mermet. “GreenScreen Evolve and Chroma represent two of our most innovative shading fabrics, geared towards helping create complete, sustainable building facades.”
Chroma solar shade fabric combines the reflective properties of metalized fabric with the visual properties of dark fabric to optimize visual comfort, health, productivity and sustainability. Its 2 percent openness and unique fiberglass and aluminum construction enable the fabric to deliver excellent glare control, thermal comfort and view through. The fabric reflects up to 78 percent of solar radiation, blocks up to 98 percent of visible light and can improve the combined Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC) of a standard insulated glass unit up to 29 percent when used together. Chroma is fireproof, RoHS certified, and meets globally recognized testing standards.
GreenScreen Evolve designer shade fabric is 100 percent recyclable and offers sustainability, a modern color palette and solar performance. One hundred percent PVC-free polyester made from recycled water bottles, the fabric was developed with global architecture and design leaders. GreenScreen Evolve provides a crisp view through by controlling glare with a balanced knit construction. The fabric is fire retardant, Cradle to Cradle Certified – Bronze™, GREENGUARD Gold certified and RoHS compliant.
Now in its fifth year of existence, the Architectural Products magazine PIAs recognize the most outstanding products and product applications within the built environment. Spanning all products throughout the market sector and archetypes, the PIAs are designed to distinguish industry-leading products brought to market in the most recent calendar year. Established in 2003, Architectural Products magazine is a leading source of information for architects, designers and specifiers in U.S. firms that specialize in commercial and institutional work.
