North Bay Apparel Licensed To Create Sweats bî ebe Collection

New York - North Bay Apparel, Ltd. will launch a new collection of Sweats bî ebe casual sportswear under a licensing agreement with Sweats trademark-holder TD&S, Ltd., LLC, it was announced today by North Bay president Harvey Zeitel and Jack Zasowski, president and managing partner of TD&S.

The deal marks the revival of an iconic fashion label from the early 1980s. In that era, Sweats bî ebe was one of the first brands to bring a casual lifestyle concept to the young men's market, offering clean yet distinctively-detailed clothes that were colorful, active-inspired and easy to wear. At its peak, Sweats bî ebe was a force not only in young men's, but also in the boys', girls' and junior markets, with annual revenues reaching approximately $100 million.

The new Sweats bî ebe collection builds upon the brand's original spirit, updating it with a far-ranging presentation of cotton bottoms, knit tops, fleece and outerwear targeted to men ages 18-35. For the premiere Spring 2006 season, North Bay brings back the signature Sweats pull-on track pant, now interpreted in a specially-developed vintage washed canvas that comes in ten colors. There are garment dyed piques, layered rugbys in heavyweight jersey, pigment-dyed microfiber boardshorts with vivid hand-painted prints, new cargo short styles with fresh multi-pocket treatments, and vintaged finish French terry/fleece separates. Fabrics are washed, weathered and broken-in, complementing the designs' relaxed, easy-to-wear styling.

Conceived as a moderately-priced fashion brand, Sweats bî ebe is being launched with wholesales of $7.50 to $15. North Bay has set up a new showroom for Sweats bî ebe at its Empire State Building headquarters in New York, and named company vice president Jeff Roth to direct sales for the division.

Discussing the licensing agreement, Zasowski, one of the originators of the Sweats bî ebe brand, commented, "Retro trademarks are happening right now. I'm excited by the chance to introduce Sweats to a new generation of consumers."

"With its emphasis on color, comfort and special fabrics, the Sweats bî ebe concept is especially relevant to today's market," concurred North Bay's Zeitel. "It gives our stores branded merchandise with a distinct point of view – and consumers a lot of reasons to want to hang out in their ‘Sweats.'"
