PAXAR UPGRADES 611 AND 612 PRINTERS FOR BETTER PRINT QUALITY, CONTROL

Source: Paxar Corporation
SAYRE, PA (August 15, 2001) — Paxar Corporation (NYSE: PXR), an international leader in apparel identification, has recently upgraded its two low-cost care label printers — Models 611 and 612. Both models are electronic thermal transfer printers and are designed to meet the lower volume requirements of small apparel manufacturers.
Paxar upgraded both printers with improved printheads, a new operating system, better controls and an international power supply. Model 611 produces one-sided care labels and Model 612 produces two-sided care labels. Paxar markets and manufactures the complete system, including the printer, software, care label tape and ink. Thus, all components are designed to work together to yield trouble-free operation.

"The printers' recent upgrades combined with the overall low cost gives small apparel manufacturers all the necessary essentials for quality in-plant printing," said Bruce Lessard, vice president of worldwide marketing at Paxar. " By utilizing historical heat management, Paxar offers manufacturers even better print quality."
The new printhead features energy control for printing each individual dot. As dots are repeatedly printed, the applied dot energy is automatically reduced to compensate for increasing heat. The consistent heat control provides for much higher print quality. The new operating system provides faster label data processing, increased memory space for more format storage and a larger data print queue.
Recent additions/upgrades include: front panel adjustments that allow simpler operation and a larger display, which provides more space for operator feedback. Additionally, an international power supply was added that can be switched from 115V to 220V.
The 611 and 612 Models make in-plant care label printing affordable for both small and medium-sized apparel manufacturers with annual care label requirements of up to 500,000 per year
These models print at a speed of 4 inches per second (ips) for high productivity and feature 32-bit processing for quick image creation. Both systems include a cutter and stacker tray for cut-single care label finishing.

Additional features include 1 Mb RAM, 256K battery backed-up memory for format storage, industrial construction and large supply capacity. The printers' finished labels perform well through normal home laundering and dry cleaning.
Additionally, Paxar's PC Mate Software package offers a full complement of imaging options and a library of standard formats — included with the price of the printer.
Typical pricing for the 611 Model is $2,795 and the 612 Model is priced at $3,495. Paxar also offers options for on-site installation, training and service as well as a depot service.
