Performance Fibers Expands Polyester Yarn Production In Germany
Richmond, VA – Performance Fibers recently announced an expansion at its Bad Hersfeld, Germany facility for low-denier industrial (LDI) yarn used in sewing threads, and coated and laminated fabrics. The company is making a multi-million dollar investment in modernized draw winder machinery that will expand capacity by more than 10 percent. The new line is expected to start up by the middle of next year.
The fine-denier, high-tenacity yarns are used in sewing, embroidery, outdoor fabric, awnings, banners, outdoor signs, flags, technical textiles and apparel, claims the company.
"This investment keeps our state-of-the-art facility in Bad Hersfeld competitive and strengthens our position as a leading provider of LDI yarns for specialty applications," said Greg Rogowski, president and CEO of Performance Fibers.
Performance Fibers, an affiliate of Sun Capital Partners, acquired INVISTA Resins & Fibers GmbH's German polyester yarn business in August. The acquisition included manufacturing facilities in Bad Hersfeld, Bobingen and Guben, and commercial operations in Hattersheim, Germany.
