Ploucquet purchases Sympatex brand from Acordis

Acordis (Arnhem, The Netherlands) has agreed to sell its Sympatex brand and business to C.F. Ploucquet (Heidenheim, Germany), a supplier of textile products in the fields of functional fabrics and accessories for the garment industry. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Sympatex is a lightweight, ultra-thin, non-porous polyester membrane that is waterproof, windproof, and breathable. The product is sewn between the lining and the outer material of gloves, footwear, clothing, and accessories.

According to Peter Wack, executive director of the Acordis group, Sympatex already has a 60% market share in German-speaking Europe. "As Ploucquet has great expertise in lamination, coating, finishing, and supplementary products, the combination will enable the business to increase the speed of the brand roll out in other countries," he added.

Acordis is a multinational group of businesses, supplying customers with man-made fibres and speciality materials for industrial, textile, medical, and hygiene applications.
