Reju And Circle-8 Textile Ecosystems Partner To Further Scale Up Textile Recycling In The UK

Paris /PRNewswire/ - Reju, a progressive company dedicated to the regeneration of one type of textile into another, and Circle-8 Textile Ecosystems, a key creator of ecosystems and infrastructures for recycling in this field, today announced a partnership aimed at further facilitating a circular textile ecosystem in the UK.

Circle-8 will provide Reju’s future European regeneration centres with raw materials from post-consumer textile waste, which will be processed in the world’s first digitalised Automated Textile Sorting and Pre-Processing (ATSP) facility, a step towards a network of industrial facilities. Reju will then use these raw materials to produce Reju Polyester, a regenerated polyester that will have a 50% lower carbon footprint compared to virgin polyester and can be regenerated indefinitely.

"Collaborating with the growing ecosystem of Circle-8 and ATSP allows us to increase the efficiency, ease and precision of the textile recycling process, resulting in a premium product that meets the high standard of Reju polyester," said Patrik Frisk , CEO of Reju. "As more and more consumers and garment manufacturers realize the importance of keeping textile waste out of landfills, it is critical to have automated and streamlined processes and equipment in place where textile waste is found."

The partnership between Reju and Circle-8 will help build the UK’s materials processing infrastructure and establish a partnership for a fully transparent and viable ‘fibre to fibre’ ecosystem. The agreement aims to lead UK brands and retailers to transition to a circular textile industry. With Circle-8 providing large-scale pre-sorted and pre-processed feedstock for Reju’s patented regeneration technology, the partnership ensures efficiency, precision and scalability for up to 700,000 tonnes of non-replicable textile waste generated in the UK each year.

"Reju and Circle-8 share an unwavering commitment to driving true limitless textile recycling here in the UK and around the world," said Cyndi Rhoades, Co-Founder and CEO of Circle-8. "This partnership highlights the importance of collaboration and innovation in turning textile waste into resources. As global regulators make a coordinated effort to address this issue, Reju and Circle-8 are committed to creating scalable solutions that meet regulatory requirements and achieve a more sustainable future."

About Circle-8 Textile Ecosystems
The future of materials is not about mining. It’s about circulation. Circle-8 is developing a new circular textile industry by building the ecosystem and infrastructure that enables the recycling of one type of textile into another. We are leading the design, construction and commissioning of a network of automated textile sorting and pre-processing facilities that convert non-replicable textiles into feedstock for fibre-to-fibre recycling processes. Our ultimate goal is to introduce an industrial-scale polymer recycling facility for textiles in the UK. We are developing the partnerships needed across the textile value chain and working to divert the estimated 700,000 tonnes of non-replicable textiles in the UK each year from export, landfill and incineration, and make this circular future a reality.
