Rocawear Speeds Products To Market With Yunique Solutions

Fast-Paced Urban Wear Firm Slashes Product Development Cycle Time by 66%

New York, NY – Yunique Solutions Inc., a developer of product lifecycle management (PLM) and digital asset management (DAM) solutions for the fashion and related industries, announces that Rocawear has implemented its plmOn solution at its Manhattan headquarters. Since initial implementation began in October 2004, the browser-based PLM solution and supporting business process consulting services provided by Yunique have enabled the urban wear marketer to reduce product development cycle times in its core businesses by 66%.

Privately-held Comet Intercontinental Inc., operating as Rocawear, was formed in 1999 by record producer and entrepreneur Damon Dash and hip-hop artist Jay-Z. With sales of approximately $350 million in 2004, the company markets and licenses a wide range of men's, women's, and children's apparel and accessories online and through department and specialty stores.

"Yunique has helped us to get everyone from design through sourcing working on the same page", stated Dana Kopet, Manager of MIS at Rocawear. "Before we implemented the system, our internal communications were lacking. If we ask five people the same question, we would get five different answers. Now, we hit our timelines far better and actually get things done on time."

"Because we are now more on the ball, we rarely need to review or repeat steps. This saves us time and money. For example, by making all of our design components available in one place, we no longer waste time trying to find them or worry about which is the latest version. The same is true for all spec items. The result is greater teamwork and collaboration across the board."

Rocawear has already implemented plmOn for nearly 40 users across its fashion and technical design, trim, and production departments. Plans are to double the number of internal users in the coming months, then expand use to include customers and trading partners.

"When we evaluated PLM systems, we felt that Yunique offered the biggest bang for our buck", added Kopet. "We needed a solution that had apparel-specific tools and worked right out of the box. Yunique not only gave us that, it also works smoothly on both MAC and PC and handles our native Adobe Illustrator file formats. We have been able to train most users in one day, including our designers who have really taken to using the system. Yunique has been extremely responsive to our needs. Their system is dynamic, so they can quickly personalize any areas that we require something other that what comes standard."
