The SDL group of companies is the largest single-source supplier of textile testing instruments and solutions in the world. SDL International and Shirley Developments of the UK, have developed and now manufacture more than 50% of the products available in the SDL Catalog featuring more than 400 items. They market, install, service and calibrate all products worldwide except for the American continents, through a network of more than 80 distributors, agents and their "Tecnet" Service Management Division. SDL's textile industry consultancy scheme covers laboratory design, equipment selections, operative selections, and a complete plan of action up to accreditation to international standards. This inexpensive scheme is fully refundable against equipment purchase in the future and covers all industries where textiles are used, as well as commercial and educational laboratories.

SDL America covers the USA, Canada, Mexico Central and South America through a network of distributors and agents, drawing products from SDL International by means of a weekly airfreight shipment to Charlotte, North Carolina. SDL America also provides US – made textile-testing equipment to its customers and to SDL International for worldwide distribution.
SDL's textile industry consultancy scheme also operates throughout the Americas together with a full installation service and calibration network "Tecnet", mirroring the UK facility. SDL America also represents a number of SDL traditional suppliers on an exclusive basis across all industries, including: -
