Springs Industries Elects Kelley to Board of Directors

William G. Kelley, chairman, chief executive officer and president of Consolidated Stores Corporation, was elected to the board of directors of Springs Industries, Inc., on February 24, 2000.

Consolidated Stores operates retail stores under the names of Big Lots, Odd Lots, Mac Frugal's Bargains Close-outs Inc., Pic 'N' Save, KB Toy Stores, KB Toy Works and KB Toy Outlet. A Fortune 500 company, Consolidated has a majority interest in KBkids.com and operates wholesale acquisition and distribution businesses under the names of Consolidated International and Wisconsin Toy.

"With Bill Kelley's extensive and varied experience in merchandising, he'll provide valuable insight to the board," said Crandall Bowles, Springs chairman and CEO. "We are excited about the contributions he'll make based on his knowledge of the retail business."

Prior to joining Consolidated Stores in January 1990, Kelley held various top management positions, including CVN Companies, Inc., The Home Depot, American Home Video Corporation, and Lord & Taylor.

Springs Industries operates facilities in 13 U.S. states and owns marketing and distribution subsidiaries in Canada and Mexico.
