The SD Laboratory Steamer/Dryer is an apparatus for drying, curing, and setting at temperatures up to 250°C. The device, which has a temperature range of 20° to 250°C, also has the ability to steam with saturated steam or high temperature steam.

Samples (12 - × 12-in. maximum size) are placed on an adjustable pin frame and transported automatically by use of a PLC, which controls the travel in and out of the unit. Dwell times can be varied from 0.5 to 99.9 min. Fan speed is also controlled by the PLC, with variable speeds from 500 to 3000 rpm. The air velocity range is from 500ft/min. to 4200ft/min. The manufacturer's designed air channel is said to provide a level airflow from front to rear as well as top to bottom.

The device also features a digital temperature controller with a maximum temperature of 250°C that controls dry heating. The same controller is used for superheated steam within a range of 100°C to 250°C. The manufacturer states that when used as a steamer, the device provides a constant source of steam using it's own electric steam generator. This can eliminate the need for an outside steam source.

The steamer/dryer has a heating capacity of 9,000w and a 3 phase 220VAC 60GHz voltage. It is constructed from stainless steel, with polished and silver hammer tone painted outside surfaces.
