Tommy Hilfiger Secures New York City Location for Retail Store
The 12,000 sq. ft. three-story building, complete with a large, rooftop billboard, will be used exclusively by Hilfiger, "We looked extensively for space in New York City but nothing was ever right for us - until now." said Tommy Hilfiger. "West Broadway is not only an ideal location - in the heart of the very modern and energetic SoHo scene - but one that we will design from top to bottom, inside and out. It allows us the opportunity to create a complete and innovative retail environment that truly represents the image of Tommy Hilfiger and the uniqueness of our customers. It was well worth the wait."
Naomi Leff, from the renowned architectural firm Naomi Leff and Associates, will design the building's facade and structure. The store, slated for a Fall 2001 opening, will occupy the building's street level, basement and first floor, and will house Tommy Hilfiger Red Label Collections, Men's and Women's Sportswear, Tommy Jeans, Junior Jeans, Junior Sportswear and select accessories.
This will be the designer's first Manhattan store since the closing of his exclusively men's shop on Manhattan's Upper West Side in 1993.
