Trim Optimization Tool

X-Trim is a new optimization tool designed to combine the features of Greycon's DeckleBench and MAJIQ's MAJIQTrim, which are two trim optimization devices for roll and sheet manufacturers.

The manufacturers state that the new tool combines DeckleBench's graphical user interface, configuration engines, manual manipulation tools, import and export routines and its proprietary optimization algorithms with MAJIQTrim's proprietary optimization and heuristic algorithms. These algorithms are established as options selected from the tool's menu.

The device is designed to offer services for slitting and sheeting problems with coating, extruding, skiving, converting, and multi-stage operations, such as rewinding, simplex and duplex sheeting. In addition, the manufacturers state that it addresses the constraints of slitter knife changes, load planning, transportation costs, quality imperfections, grade inter-trimming, and multi-site global optimization.

The trim engine communicates with the front-end through a PC GUI, a customer legacy system, or an Internet-related application. Additionally, the tool supplies component-integration technology based on the XML standard. This tool can be used as a stand-alone application or as a main component in an integrated mill environment.
