Tensile force and elongation values provide indications as to whether the raw material used is suitable, and enable forecasts to be made with respect to the subsequent processing of the yarn and the appearance of the end product
The application of a new technology with the USTER TENSOJET has made possible a greatly increased testing speed. Thus a yarn can be elongated to break up to 30 000 times per hour (equivalent to 24 000 m of yarn).
As a result of this testing capacity, it is not only possible to calculate the mean and coefficient of variation values of the measured results more quickly and statistically reliably, but also to determine the weak places in the yarn. In order to test the at least 30 000 m of yarn required for this purpose with conventional methods of test, this would take approximately 72 hours (3 days). The USTER TENSOJET will test the same quantity in 75 minutes. For the first time, therefore, reliable forecasts with respect to the expected number of end breaks in subsequent processing are possible!
According to its basic concept, the USTER TENSOJETdiffers completely from the classical tensile testing installations. The yarn is continuously drawn off the package, injected into the measuring zone by a jet of compressed air and extended to rupture between tvvo pairs of counter-rotating rollers.
The range of application has been deliberately limited to the more commonly-encountered staple fibre yarns. Only in this way has the considerable increase in testing speed been possible. For all other applications such as, for example, testing according to existing standard test methods, tests on filament yams or woven fabric strips, as well as with special trials, the top-class product USTER TENSORAPID 3 will still be at your disposal.
